I am packing Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS Kernel 2.6.29 1v1aspireepc on a AAO (the ssd small version) with 1.5Mb RAM.

I frequently find that Firefox, Thunderbird, Pigdin just shut down without any warning and I have to restart to launch them again. In other ocasions my Taskbar disapears and only if I go to applications and start "Tasklbar" again I get it back (sometimes).

I have resigned from getting input sound (cannot use Skype for example) although I have done everything I could to configure that (Alsa Mixer, new versions of Alsa Mixer, etc...)
I would like to at least browse and receive mail.

Why do you think this is happening? Is it a matter of small disk (not dick) or not enough RAM?

Thanks!
