Finally the moment you've all been waiting for is here: the release of the new light version Smiley here are the changelog:

  • Grub timeout set to 1 second
  • Serial modules
  • Vesa driver
  • Patched card reader driver
  • Support for gps
  • Support for wireless in eeepc 1000h (inactive by default)
  • Fn+F5 shortcut will now switch monitor
  • New Linux4one login theme
  • Better fonts visualization
  • New LXDE apps: obconf, obmenu, lxtask, lxrandr, lxlauncher
  • New LXDE panel icons: Network manager, Volume monitor, Battery monitor
  • Trash can for pcman (libtrash and wmtrash)
  • Icecat as default browser
  • Terminator as default terminal emulator
  • Newer Emesene version with webcam support
  • Umtsmon
  • Removed lots of unnecessary packages

Furthermore the fing (from terminal) has been added. From this version on linux4one will be become the official distribution of this excellent tool; here's a brief description: and I advise you to visit their website:http://www.over-look.org/site/index.php/

Born from the ashes of Look@LAN, Fing is the ultimate command line tool for
network and service discovery. Taking advantage of a brand new
cross-platform network engine, it reaches an impressive discovery sharpness
and speed: you're going to discover your whole network in few seconds and
generate customized real-time reports.
The network discovery provides you a complete view of any network in a very
short time: fing smart discovery automatically detects the network type and
uses the best technique to take the picture of it. The best results are
surely achieved on ethernet networks (Wireless ones included), where fing is
able to detect all network hosts, firewalled ones included, reaching 100%
hit. The service discovery feature quickly detects active TCP services on a
target host or network.

So far the Light version is running very quickly on my AA1 110L, and boots almost as quickly as the original Linpus Light.  The LXDE desktop is very pleasing.  I will be putting this one through its paces.

Yes, it has, but if you want you can upgrade the kernel. Look in the testing area
